Build the Peace works with collectives in post-conflict zones to transform the machinery of destruction into unifying art.
Together we are building sculptures and stages for bold cultural expression - amplifying hope.
This is a movement we build together. Join a global community using art and music to bridge divides.
FOLLOW THE JOURNEY:
OUR FIRST PROJECT
The pilot project is a collaboration with Zimbabwe’s Magamba, founders of Peace in the Hood — an annual event held in the Chitungwiza township where political violence was once rife.
Over the next year, Arcadia and Magamba will co-create a large-scale sculpture and stage installation from the relics of conflict, launching at Peace in the Hood 2026.
That journey begins at Glastonbury Festival with a spectacular art exchange. A mural created in Chitungwiza will become the Arcadia Dragonfly’s skin while a twin painted live at Glastonbury will travel to Chitungwiza to become part of this year’s Peace in the Hood.
Arcadia will be working with Magamba to build a new stage sculpture for Peace In The Hood 2026.
WE NEED YOU
While Arcadia helped seed the initiative, its very purpose is to be shaped by the communities, creatives, and partners who bring it to life. This is a shared project, driven by collective hope and open collaboration.
We welcome:
Creatives, technologists, and logistical minds— register your interest to be part of the growing community
Supporters and funders — help bring the first build to life and grow the movement
Aligned organisations — let’s explore how we can collaborate
We are currently developing a digital platform to connect collaborators, share resources, and support artistic co-creation across borders.
PARTNERSHIPS
Magamba is a Zimbabwe based network of storytellers, change-makers, artists and activists dedicated to building a more just and equitable continent. They are the founders of Shoko Festival and Peace in the Hood, alongside a dynamic range of creative, digital and community projects.
Partnering with Arcadia on Build the Peace are the international charity In Place of War. In Place of War is a global charity that supports artists, creatives, and cultural organisations in conflict and crisis zones. Their work spans over 26 countries, enabling artistic expression, economic empowerment, and social change. They will lead on community partnerships, governance and impact assessment.
Our first project in Zimbabwe will serve as the launchpad for a growing global network of artistic peacebuilding projects. In the coming years, Build the Peace will ignite a wave of community-led installations in post-conflict territories — culminating in a powerful global rally for peace.
